Join us for the PTSA Coffees at the MS (Wednesday) and LS (Friday). Hope to see you there!
Ms. Kerrigan and her first and second graders created some awesome artwork, showing themselves when they're happy.
It's Heart and Soul Week! Tuesday had us wearing camouflage, reminding us that "we don't hide from kindness." At recess, students were able to create flowers to offer as gratitude. Thanks to families who helped at recess stations!
The third floor main hallway looks amazing, thanks to Mr. Young's 4th grade students' artwork and Ms. Hingle! They learned about printmaking to create a relief print of an animal, using repeating patterns to create a variety of textures. They also worked in air dry clay to create a house inspired by historical New Orleans architecture. They worked on basic hand building techniques to build a sturdy form, and then pressed patterns into the surface. Color was added with oil pastels, and then they dipped the houses in ink for a resist effect. Great work, 4th graders!

This week, we'll say farewell to Officer Carr, who will be taking some time off to focus on his health and his family. Ms. Neikirk passed him the Golden Lion, because of how he always does his best work and is so positive. Ms. Clogher wished him well on behalf of the entire Willow community, thanking him for his tireless work keeping us safe and always taking care of us. Thank you, Officer Carr!

The Willow Golden Lion is on the move! Teachers bestow the fabulous lion necklace on each other, identifying why each new recipient is deserving of the honor. Ms. Clogher gave it to Ms. Agostinho for stepping up for her 3rd grade team. Ms. Agostinho passed it to Ms. Darrith, for always being so supportive. Ms. Darrith shared it with Ms. Flynn, who has high expectations of her students while supporting them to help them meet those expectations. Ms. Flynn shared it with the "other half of her brain," Ms. Carney. Ms. Carney gave it to Ms. Maloney, for being amazing for so long (her kids had Ms. Maloney!). Ms. Maloney shared the Lion with Ms. Neikirk, for bringing such positivity to the 2nd grade team. So many teachers are deserving... who will receive the Golden Lion next?!
The second grade "Balloons Over Willow" Thanksgiving parade made us all smile. Amazing music, spectacular balloon structures, and happy faces were a great way to lead us into Thanksgiving Break in great spirits. Thanks, Second Grade!
Ms. Hingle hosted a Mini Art Show with Ms. Neikirk's 2nd grade artists on Thursday as they wrapped up their exploratory rotation in the art room. Artists explained their self portraits, memory paintings, and words of wisdom, and students and visitors wrote Artist Fan Mail to the artists. Stunning work, artists!
Kindergarten and first grade students were treated to an amazing performance on Thursday! Honors Chorus, Dance Troupe, and TAT (Talented in Art - Theatre) students performed during their exploratory time. Thanks Mr. Barrau, Ms. Caleb, and Ms. Santos!
Mr. Barrau and Ms. Son's 4th grade class performed Thursday morning. They sang Maroon 5's "Memories" and one student played the original, "Pachelbel's Canon in D," before the song. Thank you, singers!
