It was a busy week in the theater with 3rd and 4th Grade Exploratory students putting their hard work on display for audiences! Ms. Oliver’s 3rd Grade Class DAZZLED with their production of The Solar System Saga and Ms. Carney’s 4th Grade Class took us on another EPIC adventure with The Odyssey. Bravo to the cast and crew of both terrific shows, and thanks to Ms. Santos for her direction!

Ms. Kennedi Dejean worked with Mx. Ureta's 4th grade class to choreograph and perform their version of The Nutcracker. Using dance elements, the students worked together to choreograph 7 scenes based on the Nutcracker ballet. They then created poems about the dance and props to use in their dance production called The Willow Nutcracker.

Olivia Reed, Willow first grader in Ms. Fitzpatrick's classroom, won a city-wide 12 and under diorama art contest at the Bywater Museum of Unnatural History.

As part of the Louisiana Children's Museum's Living with Water student exposition, Willow 3rd graders studied the characteristics of the wetlands through the art of Walter Anderson. Using supplies from the Living with Water grant, the students chose a wetland animal and carved, printed and painted block prints in the style of Walter Anderson. This week the Children’s Museum displayed the art work for families.
Members of the Willow High School band performed at the Lower School's "Balloons Over Willow" Parade. In a nod to the Thanksgiving Day Parade, 2nd grade students paraded around the Lower School campus with creatively designed and built balloons, to the delight of the Willow community. Just one of the many perks of a K-12 school!

Wacky Tacky Day during Spirit Week is always lots of fun!

Spirit Week is bringing out the animals in everyone at the Lower School!

The Busy Bees used their pattern art work from Mrs. Hingle’s visual art class in today's dance class with Ms. DeJean to create a dance using patterns and pathways.

Have a wonderful summer!
The fourth graders "Passed the Torch" to the third graders last Wednesday afternoon. Representatives from each fourth grade homeroom gave a speech, explaining what to expect in fourth grade, from behavior to special events, to kindergarten buddies. Then they passed a torch with advice and good wishes on it, letting the third graders know that they've got this!
2nd Grade Water Day was a huge success, based on the smiles!
Fourth graders held a special Morning Meeting last Wednesday. They invited their parents/guardians and shared special memories from their time at Willow. Mrs. Henry, the middle school principal, spoke to the students. Both the Honors Chorus and the Honors Orchestra performed. Then the whole class gathered outside for a photo.
Mr. Barrau and Ms. Staes' 2nd grade class sang "Fight Song" at Morning Meeting. Awesome job, Sun Rays!
The Golden Lion has been on the move! Mr. Mert Saygin passed it to Mr. Irvin Lawrence, who gave it to Mr. Craig Wilson, who bestowed it upon Ms. Stewart, who awarded it to Ms. Virginia Hebert. These staff members have been highlighted for all of the Project Pride tenets: kindness, hard work, respect, and responsibility.
K-1 Fun Day! The first grade classes hosted fun stations for the kindergarten students, partnering with them for fun activities. Thanks, First Grade!
Mr. Memo and the Green Thumb Club celebrated the end of a great year in Lagniappe with watermelon, bubbles, and green thumbs!

Lyla and Eva Jane, our 4th grade TAT students, recently checked in with Ms. Flynn's 4th grade homeroom for Thankful Thursday. They were thankful for: dino nuggets, kindergarten buddies, pets, birds, Pokemon, books, video games, friends, cousins, food, water, Minecraft, family, art, TAV, tater tots, cats, Taylor Swift, Chicago Cubs, soccer, school almost being over, school and home families, and white Tic Tacs.
