Two fourth grade TAT students took the reins for Thankful Thursday this week, visiting with Ms. Carney's 4th grade class. They were thankful for, among many other things: cats, little brothers, goat cheese, kindergarten buddies, instant ramen, fried chicken, crawfish, family, friends, teachers, denim jackets, fourth grade team, and the opening day of baseball season!

More fun at the Boil!

Gifford Riess, this year's Principal for a Day, spent the day with Ms. Clogher and Ms. Murry. They did tours with prospective parents, classroom observations, read to kindergarteners, ate lunch in the office, helped with lunch duty and with Aftercare preparations. She even led a fire drill with Ms. Clogher. She said the most interesting part of her day was lunch duty because she was able to pick the tables who were following the rules. She had a great day!

Let’s “Boil like it’s 1984!" It’s the 40th anniversary of our crawfish boil and this year we’re going BIG!! Come join us at the middle school campus (5625 Loyola Avenue) on Sunday, March 24, and help us celebrate 40 years of food and fun! We will have student performances, live bands, games, prizes, inflatables, and food and beverages!

Mr. Barrau and Ms. Balsamo's second graders sang "Go the Distance" from Hercules, reminding us that hard work and perseverance help us grow and change. Thanks for a beautiful performance!

Ms. Mitchell visited Ms. Bates's kindergarten class for Thankful Thursday. Some of the things they were thankful for were: electricity, sisters, Harry Potter, rain forests, teachers, friends, Busy Bee students, and busy bees that pollinate our plants!

The kindergarten students designed leprechaun traps to catch Lucky the Leprechaun. He was able to escape their traps, but he left a mess in the classrooms. Students started their Monday cleaning up Lucky's mess.

Mr. Barrau and Ms. Agostinho's third grade class sang "Courage to Change" at Morning Meeting and reminded us all that we're constantly changing and growing. Thank you for a wonderful performance and message!

Fourth grade students completed a research project to celebrate Black History Month. The goal was for students to make a connection with a person who has solved problems and overcome obstacles; students were able to choose a person from a provided list or select an individual from their lives such as a family member, friend, or community member. Students created presentations to tell their selected person’s story to others and they shared their work with families and community members on Thursday, March 14. Thanks for sharing, fourth graders!

Having fun during the Yoga & Gardening Lagniappe class

Ms. Mitchell visited Ms. Chevalier's 1st grade class for Thankful Thursday. They were thankful for, among many other things: video games, puppies, books, friends, family, owls, teacher teammates, Fortnite, and hamsters.

Tulane Football team players collaborated with Coach D and Ms. Oliver's 3rd grade class last week. Deshaun Batiste - defensive line, Jack Tchienchou - safety, and DK McGruder - cornerback, and their coach, Derick Bugg, Director of Player Development, visited during PE on Friday. After some fun football drills, the players were delighted to also play a game of Leprechaun tag! A great time was had by all! Yet, the best part was when the players shared the importance of a team that supports each other, and what actions create that teamwork. Thanks, Tulane!

Ms. Caleb and Ms. Weston's 1st grade class shared a dance and presentation about inspiring women Tuesday morning. Bravo, Butterflies!

The Care to Change team shared women that inspire them for March, Women's Appreciation Month. They let us know that there would be notecards shared so that we can let the women in our life know we love them, too!

The Willow Girl Scouts' Barbie-themed Daughters' Choice dances were a big success!

Mr. Hausman and the Honors Orchestra played "The Grotto" on Monday morning. What a beautiful way to start the day!

The middle school Girl Scouts came to Morning Meeting to share information about the Barbie themed Girls' Choice dance on Saturday. Mr. Hausman and Mr. Barrau reminded us that we didn't need to "worry about a thing" for benchmark testing.
