We are all learners. Ongoing professional development is essential for a successful school program and to meet the needs of all students. The Willow School spends concentrated time over a 3- 5 year period implementing our research-based programs with fidelity.
In August, our staff participated in a Conscious Discipline PD that was particularly meaningful. Conscious Discipline is the model we use for shaping behavior. All behavior is a form of communication. We work with students to determine what their behavior is telling us and then help them build the necessary skills they need to strengthen. Every child comes to school wondering… Am I safe? Am I loved? What can I learn? Through routines, rituals, jobs, visuals, and assertive language, they feel safe, loved, and ready to learn.
