Yesterday was a truly special day. Large Ensemble Assessment, generally known as 'Festival' is the nationally recognized benchmark that schools, directors, and administrators all over the country use to assess the overall ability level of an ensemble or program. For the concert portion, scores are numbered, with 1 being 'Superior,' 2 being 'Excellent,' and 3 denoting 'Good.' Ratings below 3 are considered an indication that the group was not ready to perform at all. Three judges rate the performance. It is very rare that students younger than 6th grade participate, and even rarer for them to score at the top level. Willow's Elementary Advanced Orchestra recieved two 2's and a 1. This is a phenomenal result for a group that includes members in 2nd grade! Our 5th grade strings class received all 1's for an overall Superior rating! Congratulations to these performers and to Mr. Hausman!
